CCA Fair 2009

You know time has flown.. when it's time for another batch of newbies! :D We are starting preparations for next year's CCA fair by asking for all of your suggestions for the following:

1. The netball booth

2. Souvenirs
- Recall: this year, we gave out pieces of paper cut and decorated in a shape of a netball as souvenirs

Please email Elaine Fung Zi at fungning@hotmail.com once again if you have any suggestions. The more the merrier! :D

The early bird catches the worm ;)

Holiday Trainings: Dec '08

As mentioned in previous trainings, Dec '08 Holiday Trainings will be STRICTLY for 2009 School Teams. It goes without saying that attendance is expected as much as possible from all of the school team members. We understand from coach that holiday trainings will not be easy, so hang in there and do your very best! :)

As for non-school team members, although you're not down for formal trainings, it does not mean that you can't train by yourself to maintain your fitness! During the holidays, we suggest that you go for weekly runs/jogs to keep up your stamina. Do some exercise and move around... you could even call up a few netballers to do some passings or drills once in a while :) If you'd like, you may want to try other kinds of sports too. Just don't rot away at home yeah! x) Keep your passion and spirit alive for netball..! :)

Keep going everyone!!!

Outing on 20 Nov

Hi all,

We'd like to hold a netball outing on 20 Nov, Thurs. Once again, as it is for all outings, we are not looking to 'force' everyone to come, and we hope that we don't get to deal with reluctance too.. so although attendance is not strictly mandatory, we hope that you will turn up for the outing, simply because you love our cca & the peeps! :)

For this outing, there would be two options:

1. Barbeque dinner at Sharlene's house
- She lives in a Dover condo five bus stops away from school = it's really near school haha. (ok it's a bit weird to speak in 3rd person ahaha.)
- Activities: BBQ/tennis/table tennis/badminton/sauna/swimming/dunking:P/movie marathon on big screen
- Time: unconfirmed as of yet, but we are not looking to end late as it is a school night. Hopefully we'll end by LATEST 9pm :)

2. Sentosa (once more!)
- Time: 10am to 5pm
- Activities: FUN @ THE BEACH -> self-explanatory ahaha. Suggestions include ball games and uhh tanning. x) We can always bring a ball (e.g. volleyball/beach ball/huge exercise ball) and play all kinds of ball games.

Either way, we're sure that there'll be lots of fun.. ;)

Please email Elaine your choice at fungning@hotmail.com ASAP.

If you are unable to come AT ALL, please sms Sharlene (and leave your name in the message thx).

(Hopefully that wasn't too complicated to understand :P)

Thank you!

2 kinds of shirts for 2009

For 2009, there would be two kinds of shirts for the CCA:

1. School Team Jersey
- this jersey is EXCLUSIVELY for school team 2009

2. Normal CCA tee
- all members will own this shirt

Although we're netballers, we also have some talented artists among us :) if you are interested in designing either or both kinds of shirts, please send Elaine and Sharlene your design by 10 Nov (Mon) LATEST. There should be plenty of time left.. :D Your design can either be hand-drawn or soft-copy, no problemo at all.

We are looking forward to your masterpieces! :D

Warning: Tons of updates coming your way

Hi all!

Long time no post. Sorry for such a long absence! But coming your way shall be a barrage of upcoming posts full of updates. We recommend that you check this blog, your email and your phone really often to make sure you're in the loop :) Hope that everyone enjoyed taking exams last week (coughcough) and all the best for your results next week!! :D

Meanwhile, ENJOY all you can!! :D Have fun. If the pang strikes you, go jogging/exercising to maintain your stamina too!! x)

Regards,
Elaine & Sharl

Instructions for Thurs' shoot-da-hoop

Hey netballers!

Basically, for your duty shift, you just have to make sure that:

  1. The 2 balls do not get lost! Make sure that there are 2 balls passed from the people before your shift/passed to the people after your shift. :)
  2. The hula-hoops remain where they are :D
  3. No rowdy behaviour occurs. If any situation gets out of hand, please inform a teacher (whoever's available) for help.
  4. Everyone has fun :D
Thanks!

There'll also be an meeting after assembly tomorrow morning at the year 4 side of the track. Please rmb to come!

---

EDIT at 10.33pm:

Location of stall: same as YD carnival! At the semicircle structure next to canteen.

There's been a change - our stall will be a "competitive" one now. :)
The instructions below are added to the ones on top.

Our stall's gonna work the same way as it did during the YD carnival:

If a shot is made from the hulahoop nearest to the pole, the person will get 1 point.
If a shot is made from the hulahoop 2nd nearest to the pole, the person will get 2 points.
If a shot is made from the hulahoop furthest to the pole, the person will get 3 points.

Each person will be allowed 2 shots for warm-up and 7 shots for the actual game only. Everyone is only allowed to play once. :)

Please record the info (NAME, MENTOR GROUP, POINTS GOTTEN) of people who scored more than 6 points part on forms that we will put up at the pillars near the hoop tomorrow. :) We'll give prizes to the top shooters! But we're not sure what to give yet; it depends on the budget that the sports week comm will give us. :D

Netballers aren't allowed to take part! (of course :D)

Thanks. :D

Outing on 6 Sept! +PESS+Outing

Hellloo!

Watching the Nation Cup match on 31st Aug has been cancelled as there are not enough people able to make it on that day. However, you are strongly encouraged to go to watch the matches on that day, on your own time. :)

As we all know, 6 Sept is the day whereby our U14 PESS team will be playing from 7.45am to 5pm. It's also the same day as the Nation Cup matches Coach recommended for us to watch.

Therefore... 6 Sept shall be our netball outing day. :D We'll be going to support our lovely Y1 juniors at PESS at 7.45am onwards. Those who are interested to watch the Nation Cups can go ahead, after coming to support the juniors :D

Here are the timings for the PESS matches (at Toa Payoh Sports Hall) on 6 Sept:
-The first match (semi finals) is from 1230pm to 3pm.
-The second match (finals) is from 3pm to 5pm.

Except for year 1s, please tell your level reps which match you can make it as soon as possible. If you can go for both, even better :D

Regardless of whether you're still at NIE playing matches/rooting for our U14 team or at Toa Payoh Sports Hall watching PESS matches, both events end at 5pm. As such, we are planning to go for dinner together afterwards :) The location is still not confirmed yet, but it is likely to be somewhere in between the two places :D NIE is somewhere in Jurong West/Boon Lay. Do you have any suggestions? Please tell your level rep if you do too. :)

Thanks all! :)

New system of attendance-taking

Hi all!

With effect from this week onwards, whenever you are unable to come for training, please inform your level reps (instead of directly to Hanisah)!

Level reps

Year 1: Shi Ni
Year 2: Christine
Year 3: Hanisah
Year 4: Sharlene
Year 5 + 6: Celine

Level reps, please report to Hanisah after each training with regards to the attendance of everyone in your level. :)

To refresh your memory...

Below are valid & invalid reasons for missing training:

Valid reasons:
  1. School function/event (representing school in competition etc.)
    - You must produce written permission from your teacher-in-charge to Ms Chen/ Ms Tong.
  2. Sick
    - You must produce a Medical Certificate and/or parents' letter.
  3. Church Service
    - It must be only Church service and not anything else (e.g. cell group meeting/church outing)
  4. Fasting
    - Muslims during the Ramadan fasting month will be granted permission for early dismissal.
(Should the "must" not be fulfilled, the reason will unfortunately be rendered invalid.)

Invalid reasons:

Everything else :D
(Common invalid reasons: gotta study for test the next day, tuition, music lesson, class outing)

If you still wish to skip training based on an invalid reason, you will be marked as absent without valid reason. One of the teachers will be having a "tea session" with you that happens..!

Now that trainings have been fixed for B' and C' Div, we expect full attendance from respective members from now on. We also expect everyone to schedule their personal commitments around the current fixed training times.

- Passion for netball!
Let's strive for perfect attendance,
so that we can move forward as greatly as possible as a whole team. :)

Thank you all for your cooperation! :D
